Happy holidays to your all and thank you for making us #1 downloaded LinkedIn app on Android market!
Many of our user noted that Droidin looks were subpar to its functionality. This is no longer a case thanks to the wizardry of Dion Van Rijswijk who revamped and redesigned Droidin graphical art.
The 2.5.0 update also bring further functionality improvements adding auto drafts and fixing reported issues
We got few feedback messages on DroidIn market listing complaining of DroidIn “eating battery” and being “resource hog” so today we run some testing. In 2.5 hours unplugged, running side-by-side with “big boys” – Twitter and Gmail, DroidIn is nowhere to be seen as far as resource consumption. In fact, DroidIn uses Android’s Alert Manager to wake up and do the refresh. That means we are not running any long term background processes and as soon as service is done updating the app will not consume battery power until next update. If you have a different experience and data/picture to prove it please please let us know
DroidIn went through 3 back-to-back releases this past weekend. Bulk of changes went to release 2.1.3 that fixed keyword-based search to accept any number of keywords. Another big change that is not visible but hopefully makes app more reliable is switching to industry standard Google-OAuth security for user authentication. Two follow-up releases fixed uncovered bugs and introduced subtle changes to Profile UI. Another addition is navigational menu and context sensitive tips which hopefully make is easier for users to discover non-obvious capabilities such as clicks, long clicks and toolbar options.
Last version of DroidIn is out and it adds long awaited search to the application. There are, actually 2 type of searches you can do. Default, keyword-based search can be triggered from any page except “Contacts” by clicking your phone’s “Search” hard-button. Currently you can only search by the single keyword but this will be greatly extended in the future releases. On the “Contacts” page you can use ether “hard” button or one on the toolbar and you will be searching within your LinkedIn contacts only.
Another noticeable change is “Home” and “Profile” UI updates. There are also multiple bug fixes and improvements throughout the app
Long requested home screen widget has arrived to DroidIn!
Other changes/improvements:
In the latest 2.0.9 release DroidIn adds updates notification. By default notifications occur each 20 min but you can configure frequency from the application settings. If you set it to “Never” no background processes is ever run. However, even if you opt for the refresh DroidIn will only consume battery when its background process wakes and makes a remote call.
Release 2.0.8 is out. It fixes several bug, including reported wrong location on profile.
Most of work was done on the “Contacts” view. Loading indicator, improved performance and alternative view that lets you quickly scroll through all of your contacts “Android Contact Manager” style. You can switch between 2 views by clicking on toolbar button
Thanks to our devoted users DroidIn is now featured on the Android Markets’ top list in the “Social” category with likes of Facebook, Twitter, Twitroid and other “big boys”
DroidIn v. 2.0.6 is out and it adds the alternative to the automatic login. Please note that mechanics are the same – in both instances OAuth mechanism is deployed with no email/pwd saved anywhere in the app. However, manual login exposes the actual LinkedIn OAuth login page within the app – basically you are entering your credentials into LinkedIn remote webpage which probably gives an additional piece of mind to security-obsessed.
The manual login screen is available as a link below automatic login form.

Auto-login
Click on it and (eventually) you will be presented with the manual login form. Please wait until LinkedIn page is loaded – it may take some time. Fill in the credentials and click submit. If you are successful – code will be generated and auto-filled into the “Accept code” form on the top. If it fails to autofill – just click on the box and type the code by hand. Click on “Thumb up” button and you are done.
If at any stage of login process you want to bail out – simply click “Cancel” button on the top, you will return to the auto-login

manual login - step 1

manual login - step 2
Other updates include bug fixes and we happy to report that bug that was showing NULL in the “Experience” screen was fixed – thank you to our users for reporting this one!
