DroidIn – what’s next?
Posted on July 18th, 2009 No commentsI started working on DroidIn2 which will have totally revamped interface and some important, long time requested features. I really wish that LinkedIn people would somehow acknowledge my effort and provide some sort of cooperation, but alas – they are simply ignoring DroidIn for now

DroidIn 1.2.0 – LinkedIn meets Twitter
Posted on July 15th, 2009 2 commentsSince DroidIn has been accused to be “just like Twitter” 1.2.0 release brings new feature where LinkedIn status update can be duplicated to the Twitter feed of user’s choosing. Feature is entirely optional but once enabled will simply replicate LinkedIn status updates to Twitter feed.
As usual freebee users have some limitations – status can only be twitted once every 24 hours. Which, by the way does not affect LinkedIn updates – these can be posted with no limitations. To enable the feature please select “Preferences” from the app’s menu and check “Twitter Enable” checkbox
Twitter functionality is brand new and somewhat experimental. Please report any problems you may experience

DroidIn – version 1.1.6 is out
Posted on July 9th, 2009 1 commentI released DroidIn v. 1.1.6 for both paid and lite flavors. This release fixes some visual deficiencies and introduces some rudimentary page caching. Generally when accessed, page is cached for 10 min which should make browsing a little more efficient.
I really need feedback from people who accessing DroidIn over WiFi, I suspect that that is the source of connection problem some users have reported

It’s called “Choice” for a reason
Posted on July 2nd, 2009 No commentsLooking through the feedback I noticed this post
Even though I’m a pretty heavy linkedin user, up-to-the-minute status updates are just unnecessary and add clutter to my notifications.
baajThere are settings for DroidIn that you can set to get updates once every so often or NONE. Use it. Or if it’s broken – then let me know. That’s why Android Market sucks – you can only read this type of feedback with no ability to reply to the person who left it.
I wish they would have a web-version of Market with support option, something like Sourceforge but for commercial or free apps -
DroidIn – v. 1.1.4 is out
Posted on June 22nd, 2009 2 commentsToday I released DroidIn – 1.1.4 for both paid and lite version. This is the last version I’m releasing under Android 1.1 all the follow up version will be compiled with A 1.5 “Cupcake”.
This release fixes long outstanding issue with not retaining screen content when changing from portrait to landscape view. It also addresses smaller annoyances such as multiple “Loading please wait” notificationsPlease let me know of any problems you may have with this relase

DroidIn v. 1.1.3 bug fixes
Posted on June 2nd, 2009 No commentsI’m releasing yet another bugfix update. Thanks to user who wasn’t lazy and communicated problem by email I was able to fix “page not found” bug that was occurring due to the fact that Android 1.1 vs Android 1.5 treat relative URLs differently. When 1.1 sees “/foopath” it replaces it with “foo:foopath” vs. 1.5 will make it into “foo://foopath”. Enough to make a little nasty bug. Anyway – please upgrade, the fix also includes some additional small enhancements

DroidIn – reporting problems
Posted on May 23rd, 2009 4 commentsWhat I really dislike in Android Market feedback is style of comments where people would trash your app and complain but will not give even a slightest hint on what the problems are. I don’t mind good beating, I don’t mind critique. But if I get just general statement like “this widget sucks” then it doesn’t help me to improve it. So next time you place your comment please, pleas let me know what the problem is so I can address it
Here’s shining example from Michael
Has the creator tried using it? Buggy, incomplete. Shouldn’t be in such a rush to post things.
“Buggy” Where, how? “Incomplete” – same thing. Yes, I have G1 phone and I test and use the widget extensively. It has tight dependency on availability of the network so don’t hold messages like “Page is not available” against me, I try to make my notification as user friendly as possible. The caching is on works
Yes, I know that DroidIn is missing major pieces such as “Inbox” and “Groups”. Alas so does http://m.linkedin.com and very unfortunately there’s no access to any sort of API that LinkedIn is willing to give me.All I’m asking for my users to be a little bit more constructive and provide me with a valuable feedback and not just hatemail

DroidIn gets Updates feature in v. 1.1
Posted on May 22nd, 2009 1 commentI’m very excited to announce that DroidIn is now have “Updates” features as well as some UI upgrades and new configuration screen.
Here is a short scoop:- Updates will allow you to receive notifications in the title bar the same way you receive “new email” alerts, etc.
- Pulling down notifications pane and selecting DroidIn entry will open up DroidIn app
- For the paid version you can have frequency set fro 15min to 24h. Please be aware that running frequent updates will use your battery more
- You can disable updates by selecting “None” which is a default
- Lite version can only have “None” or 24h (Ah – c’mon it’s only 2 bucks to upgrade)
- Once you done – hit the “Back” button it will bring “Updates” view
- “Today” section is now displayed open by default
- There are some smaller UI improvements
